Introducing our Gunpowder Pinhead green tea, so-called due to each tea leaf being rolled into a small round pellet which, collectively, resemble grains of gunpowder.
Produced using steam and rolling equipment to roll the tea leaves into green balls that open up when steeped, this tea hails from the Anhui province in Eastern China.
The leaves unfurl to produce a golden green liquor with a lightly smoked, buttery and nutty character.
Part of our Sommelier's Selection, this tea is available exclusively through our online shop!
Steep 1tsp per cup for 3-5 minutes in 80°C water. Enjoy without milk.
Gunpowder tea is exported to North Africa where it is used in the preparation of traditional Moroccan (North African) mint tea, made by adding mint and sugar or honey to gunpowder tea while brewing.
