Yunnan Golden Tips Black Tea - Sommelier's Selection

Introducing our Yunnan Golden Tips black tea, named after the region of its production, Yunnan province, in South West China.
Produced by hand in early spring, the leaves are large, twisted and black with lots of golden tips producing a sweet caramel flavour.
Grown in a region bordering the Assam Valley of India, black teas from this region are also known as ‘Dian Hong’ - ‘Dian’ being the short name for Yunnan, ‘hong’ meaning red after the deep, red liquor of the brewed tea.

TEA-RIVIA
Before the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), Yunnan only produced green tea. This changed during the conflict when many southeastern tea-growing provinces became warzones. Yunnan was vital to China maintaining its black tea industry and with climatic and geographical conditions similar to those of Assam, India, this region made for excellent black tea production, as it continues to do so today.
